- Test reconnection after WiFi drop
Process
How the service is scoped
The goal is to make the project explainable and buildable, not to overpromise features that cannot be tested before presentation.
Confirm sensors, outputs and power requirements
Choose safe GPIO pins and avoid boot-mode conflicts
Test each input/output locally
Integrate WiFi/cloud/app layer
Verify demo flow under realistic network conditions

Useful Components
5V Relay Module
A relay module lets a microcontroller switch a higher-voltage or higher-current load. It is common in smart home, irrigation, fan control and safety projects.
BME280 Environmental Sensor
BME280 measures temperature, humidity and pressure using I2C or SPI. It is a cleaner choice than DHT sensors for compact weather station and environmental monitoring projects.
ESP32 Development Board
The ESP32 is a low-cost microcontroller board with built-in WiFi and Bluetooth. It is one of the most useful boards for Malaysian FYP projects involving sensors, mobile apps, dashboards, Blynk, Firebase or Telegram alerts.
ESP32-CAM Module
ESP32-CAM combines an ESP32 with a small camera module. It is useful for face recognition demos, smart doorbells and visual monitoring FYP projects.
INA219 Current Sensor
INA219 measures bus voltage and current over I2C. It is useful for battery percentage, solar monitoring and power consumption analysis in FYP systems.
MQ135 Air Quality Sensor
MQ135 is a popular gas sensor module used in air quality projects. It can react to gases such as ammonia, alcohol, benzene and smoke, but it is best used for relative trend detection rather than accurate certified PPM measurement.
FAQ
Common questions
Is ESP32 better than Arduino for FYP?
ESP32 is better when the project needs WiFi, Bluetooth, app control or cloud data. Arduino Uno is still fine for simpler offline control and beginner-friendly circuits.
Can ESP32 connect to Firebase or Blynk?
Yes. ESP32 is commonly used with Firebase for custom apps and databases, and with Blynk for faster mobile IoT dashboards.
What are common ESP32 project issues?
Common issues include unstable power, wrong GPIO choice, weak WiFi handling, ADC noise and expecting precise readings from low-cost analog sensors without calibration.
